Conch Question

I picked up a couple of fighting conch's and a few days after I got them I started to notice clumps of sand on the bottom of the tank. I took one out to examine it and it fell apart pretty easy. There didn't seem to be anything holding it together except these clear stringy, very thin/small fibers. I have a cuc going in my quarantine tank with a fire shrimp, two clowns, half dozen snails, a few crabs and the two conchs. No cucumbers. The tanks not being dosed with anything either, so I don't think is precipitation.

My question is, is this their poop or what?
