Well I dont know much about DIY, but those seem to be just the diode without any of the surrounding chip/mounting. It says right there on the site it is for replacing burnt out/whatever on their fixtures. rapidled/clay-boa etc sell the leds meant for more of a built it yourself type deal. (Whether it's a soderless chip or not).

I don't do any diy led work. But I do led replacements in my fixtures (playing with spectrum mix). If you are going to build a fixture I'm sure you can find way better led prices and systems than using RB leds.

Great fixtures, not sure about their DIY LEDs. I have heard good things about Steve's LEDs, aquastyle online and led group buy.

Led Group Buy and Steve's I would use. Aquastyle has inferior leds, so only go there if you are very budgeted.

I have never heard that about aquastyle LEDs, good to know. I built a small fixture from them years ago and it worked well.
