quiet external return pump
I am looking to replace my genx pcx 40 pump. It is too loud. What it the quietest pump that won't add too much heat and wont break the bank? 3/4" in/out would be best. I have a 125g long tank and about 5ft of vertical head, 2 elbows and a T. I might add a chiller later on in-line.

Diablo DC 10500 so far, it has been an awesome pump.......No noise, none......very little heat transfer.

Velocity t4 is the quietest external only pump I have used. Totally silent and on a setup that size temp shouldn't be a issue.
Most of the larger external pumps make a bit of racket, especially the ones with cooling fans on them. I think the iwaki Japanese motor pumps are next in line as the best and quietest. Little giant, blue line and a bunch of other companies are cheaper knock off products. A iwaki 30 might give you the flow you need and also be quiet enough. I have a iwaki 20 rlxt that I am going to use for water change duty...... You can also mount red dragon and water blaster pumps externally. Both very quiet. I have a large red dragon 12m3 which is similar in flow to a dart, pump is silent, also a water blaster 5000 mounted internally that is silent and is my return pump. 12m3 was to much flow so its just sitting collecting dust
