problem with RO/DI unit

I recently purchased a new 7 stage ro/DI unit from aquasafe systems. I had one from them in the past but it was so old that i decided to start new. I set it up but the water flow of filtered water seems extremely fast. My other unit (which was a 5 stage) took about 20 min to make one gal. Could it be that because it is a new unit with fresh filters that the water is filtering through faster or is it more likely that something is wrong with the unit. I am at work right now but am going to test the filtered water when i get home to see if the water is at least removing the phos. Any experience or advice?

So what is the GPD (gallons per day) rating of the unit?
Typically one would measure the amount of water they get in a certain timeframe then use a little math to see if it matches with the GPD rating of the unit.

I believe it was a 50g/day unit- I have printed up the set up instructions (which i did follow when setting it up). It looks like there might be a flow regulator step that i have missed - hopefully this will help correct the flow problem. Any use a TDS meter?
