Sump Question
I have a 60G tank that is roughly 3 months old. I have a 20G sump that is running through a filter sock. I use a Sicce Syncra Silent 3.0 pump to pump water back up to the DT. I have no baffles but would like to add some. Problem is, I can't remove the sump from the stand w/o taking the tank off the top. Is it possible for me to set up a temporary sump so that I could dry the current sump out and install baffles? I was thinking of getting a large tupperware container and pumping the water out of the current sump and in to the temporary sump while I completed the work.
I don't have a lot in the tank now (2 clowns, 1 tail spot Blenny, 1 6 line Wrasse, 1 Cleaner Shrimp, and a CUC) This seems like it would work but I am new to the hobby and I thought I would ask before I made a mistake. |

Sure can not a problem at all. You could also simply transfer your heaters and any other necessary equipment into your display tank temporarily and go without a sump until the work is done.

Or cut a hole in the side of the stand ala melev's reef:
