Anemone into hospital-now what?
I brought home a bta last Friday from great LFS, but an hour away. He quarantines everything until they are healthy and ready to sell. It looked great when we got home and started to move but the clarkii wouldn't leave her alone. Anemone never found a spot, looks a little weaker each day. Inflates a little, mouth stays open a little, hides a little. Closes up but clarkii thrashed her from the outside. I put a mild current on her and got her out of hiding. She just contracted entirely and I was able to pick her and put her in the hospital. btw-newbie. Been in hospital for an hour, looks better already but now what?
45g, LR, fish & softies. She's 8" from the T5 in a mesh hospital, curled into a little cup I set in with her. Is that okay? and what's next? Do I need to buy and set up a qt, do I need a crash course on ciproblablabla and if both are yes, can it be one of those $100 nano tanks that has everything attached? I haven't fed her and am not planning to. What else should I be asking? This is a rescue tank we've had for a month. It hadn't occurred to me to have a rescue tank for the rescue tank. Last minute: moving out of the cup. maybe too small. Last edited by mswanguzi; 09/18/2013 at 10:24 AM. |

In my limited experience with anemones, my suggestion to you is to get the clown away from the neme, and then allow the neme a couple weeks without being disturbed to get settled in.

We tried but the clown has a warp speed. My heart did not. The entire tank got agro. This was plan B: When we nurse the anemone to healthy we then lower her into the tank in a clear container to lure in the clown and then pour her out, or put them both in qt. Obviously that puts clown right back w the nem for our newbie ignorance to screw up. First I need to know how to best help the nem. Do I leave it alone, leave in hospital bag or not, or medicate or qt..idk.
And does this nem look sick sick or just a little sick to you? |

I would take out the anemone and move it to a hospital tank. Then you'll want to make a post in this forum and perhaps PM OrionM and ask for his assistance. He has a procedure for treating new anemones with Ciprofloxacin that might benefit your anemone, but I would check with him as to the best course of treatment.

make a box with egg crate to surround the anemone, this way the clown can't get to it.
