water change amount

ok, i have a fluval spec v. i have been doing 20% a week using reef crystals salt. i do 2 10% changes one on thursday, one on monday.i do not dose anything, but i just added a refugium. should i cut back to 10 percent on mondays only? i do have a frogspawn that takes some of the trace elements from the crystals, if i cut back to 10% a week, would it still be getting enough? would it be enough to maintain the water quality?

Unless the frogspawn is huge, you probably would be fine decreasing water changes. Why not try it; you can always switch back if your nitrates start rising or calcium starts falling.

10% a week is generally what is suggested for a reef tank.

How much deeper would the ocean be if it didn't have sponges?

Your doing good... test your water everyday, water change whenever something spikes, and water change on a certain schedule like your doing now. I normally pick a day of the week and every single time its that day of the week a water change is done. do note the smaller the tank the harder and a fluvals are smaller nano type aquariums..
