Tank Swap Challenge...
Ok so here is what I have:
DT: 75G w/ canister filter 2" Sand Bed 1x 10lb LR 1x Bi-color Blenny 1x Clown 2x Hermit Crabs 1x Snail My water levels are perfect - I am careful not to overfeed. QT: 10G w/ canister filter Barebottom 1x 5lb LR 2x Green Chromis 1x Royal Gramma 4x snails LR Container: Approx 75-100lbs of LR, about 3 days away from complete cycle Challenge: I have a new 75G with corner overflow ("NDT") that I want to set up as my new DT. I plan to do the following: Take livestock out of DT, put in QT. Take water out of DT, put into clean trash bin (bare with me here) Take DT off stand Put hole in stand (for sump) Take NDT and place on stand, fill with live sand from DT (onto eggcrate foam). Plumb check valves/unions/ball valves from NDT overflow to underneath, so that I can hook up the sump later (same weekend, but the Livestock are my concern). Take water from trash bin, pump into NDT. Place cycled LR in NDT Place Livestock from QT into NDT. Where am I going wrong here? ALSO: Do I have to use the "old" water from my DT ?? Since I will have a lot of cycled LR, can't I use new saltwater (ie: 90% water change)? |
