don't worry about ph but 8 is a good number. they all look exactly like they should, even pretty quickly too compared to my cycle. Don't worry if the ammonia keeps going up or not dropping, that's normal and just be patient. You're doing good.

Partial water change is necessary in this case. Get the level down to 3-5ppm.
I have no idea why someone would tell you your cycle is fine, you would have been starting at a tank full of ammonia, nitrite & nitrate forever. |

Definitely water change to get the ammonia down. My ammonia spiked around 5 at the start of my cycle. Then you want to see the ammonia turn into nitrites and then nitrates. Ammonia and nitrites will be 0 when it's cycled.
Test all three every day to watch the progression. |

I'm not sure but I would start with no less than 30%. Afterwards, give the tank a little time to turnover a few times then check ammonia. If it's still to high, repeat the process but at a lower percentage.

If you have 8, and your target is 5, you want to remove 3.
3/8 is approximately 37% of the water volume. If you want 4, do a 50% water change. |

I'd change 10-15 gallons and take the shrimp out. Good luck with things!

Leave it like that! Your nitrite will overcome your ammonia quickly due to the 8ppm that was in the tank. Your good!!!!

Noticed you use API test kit. They're so-so for saltwater. I'd invest in a better quality test kit like Salifert, Seachem or Red Sea brand.
