Has anybody Dipped Acan Frags in Hydrogen Peroxide to get rid of Hair Algae?
Has anybody Dipped Acan Frags in Hydrogen Peroxide to get rid of Hair Algae?
I asked because I read about people doing this with Zoanthid Frags before that were covered in Hair Algae. I tried this a few months ago on some of my Zoanthid Frags and it worked without any problems. The Hair Algae was completely off the Zoanthid plugs in about 3 Days. I didn't even have to pull it off it just vanished and disappeared leaving me with nice clean plugs. I ask because I do recall someone saying either not to do this with Acros or SPS. I forget which? So before I try this on my Acans I wanted to make sure that it was safe for them.

Yes acans are considered peroxide tolerant of 50 50 dips. But, algae doesn't grow on the polyp flesh, only the skeleton or septal ridges, so why dip? Simply apply the peroxide solution to the algae only, using one of many common application tools

I brushed an acan to attempt to kill some hydroids that were growing on the rock below and ****ing off the polyps, it really knocked the acan back, it still hasnt fully open well after 3 months, its still alive, color sort of bleached, but just not looking great yet. I used a tooth brush, dipped in 100% H2O2, and brushed/scrubbed the rock on the hydroids. some H2O2 got on the polyps, but nothing near as much as a dip would have done.
