I stand with this project - 165gal Reef Tank

Hello forum members my name is Abraham 22 years old guy and I present this project of 165 gallons and evolution.

I tell a little of my story, I started when I was 16 years old with recommendations of neighborhood Aquarium you know what i meen, tank 50 "x12.5" x19 "without sump and useless filters, lasting a year and a half with my tank and finally I gave up.

i never stop reading and reading and reading everything I could forums internet and everything i could.

Finally after six years encouraged me to ride a new tank, which i stand.

The main tank is 62.5"x25"x25" 12mm glass and sump 37.4"x14.5"x19" 9mm glass about 165 gallons in total.

Lighting:
I have 98X3w DIY Lighting with LED (Reef Breeders)

40 White 20 ° K
10 Violet 420nm
45 Royal Blue 450nm
3 Magenta 460nm (I think)

filtration:
Skimmer EuroReef SX-250 works very well.
Reactors with Biopellets and Phosban
ATS (Algae Scrubber)
Algae Chaeto

Here some pictures of the progress.

I use RO/DI water for filling and RedSea Coral Pro salt. I put 70 lbs of live rock and I started the cycle.

5 days after starting the cycling had an accident, a union of silicon collapse.
Repair the tank

It was a great welcome to the hobby LOL

I went back to do the aquascaping because the first i didnt like it, it was unstable and had little room to place corals.

And this was the result:

The algae started coming in about 15 days most cyanobacteria.

After 1 week they arrived, they went.

I started to introduce corals, about a month to start cycling

After a month and a half to start the tank, i put a dosing pump (BubbleMagus)

This to stabilize chemical levels in the tank
( I use ESV Calcium, Megnecium & Carbonate)

To move the water i use 2 Pumps Jebao Wp-40

And finally after 3 months the tank looks like this:

Thanks for reading the post and I apologize for the photos all were taken with my cellphone iŽll promise to take more photos whit other camera

I apologize for my English, I'm from Mexico and I'm still learning English.

Greetings from Mexico and i am an admirer of all beautiful tanks of ReefCentral

Regards

congrats on the tank! it looks very impressive! i hope it continues to thrive for you.

that is a serious bummer about the union breaking loose for you. hopefully the rest are solid and hold for many years to come.

i am curious to how well your coral thrive and grow with them. i am working on getting my first reef tank going and am planning on going the led route.

take care and keep the pics coming!

wow, Im impressed about the corals surviging in a new tank. Are theys till doin ok? They growing?
You got to make sure the seam never gives up, or in the long run, youd repent, the more livestock you have the more headaches you'd get
Good luck

That's a very impressive young tank. I think your English is pretty good for someone still learning the language. We have some people in this country that can't write it as well as you can and they were born here speaking it.

Good luck with the tank.

It looks like this tank is going much better than the one you had when you were 16. I really like the aqua-scape (rock work) and it looks like your corals are doing well. Keep up the good work!
