new reefer - new tank underway
After months of learning as much as I could about stuff I knew nothing about (and still know virtually nothing about), I finally have my tank up and cycling. There isn't much to see at this point beyond a little aquascaping, but here's a phone pic with flat room lighting.
The tank is an Elos System 70, with about 50lbs. of Real Reef and 40lbs. Arag-Alive. A week into cycling with Dr. Tim's ammonium chloride and Elos Bacto Complex A1, the ammonia levels are way down, and nitrites are way up. Looks like everything is going fine. Big thanks to Rafael, Larry, and Darren at Elos AquaStudio in Short Hills, NJ! They run one hell of a shop. I didn't even know such places even existed... I've certainly never seen anything like it outside of a public aquarium. -Frank |
