Safe to use a sponge in overflow?
So I want to quiet the splashing in my overflows and I've read of people putting a sponge in there to take care of that. Wouldn't that turn into a nitrate problem, though? Would filter floss do the same job and then I could just replace it? What do you guys think?

You could use either. Just clean or replace often to avoid the "factory" or clogging.
