skimmer pump as return
Currently I have a standard 90 gallon with no sump, HOB eshopps 100 gallon skimmer, running for about 6 months. I USED to have all my livestock in a "sumped" 112 gallon so I happen TWO Reef Octopus Diablo XS 200 In Sump Protein Skimmers just laying around.
I'm thinking of adding a sump to the 90g using a HOB U-tube overflow, 1 of the Diablo skimmers and the pump from the other skimmer (sicce psk-1000) as my return pump. Anyone see a problem with this? |

dont think it would work, skimmer pumps usually have pin wheel impellers, made to chop up the air into micro bubbles.

if you have the room above the tank and wanna use your current skimmers put your skimmers up top , drill the above tank sump instead of u tube (your display is now technically a sump, but your fish won't know, u tube overflows are disasters waiting to happen) ands your sicce won't work for return pump as bullikin1 said

Kinda like using a paddle on a canoe sideways instead of straight, plus lots of micro bubbles.

sure you can... just get the regular paddle impeller for it.
