For those of you with light timers....

What do we do about day light savings time with light timers? Do we change them to come on and off an hour back like the clocks or keep them the same? I was thinking to keep them the same but my husband was going to change it.

Personal preference. Makes no difference to whatever is in your tank.

I prefer the lights operate on my schedule, so I change them.

This honestly has never even occurred to me....I wondered this morning when I walked into the living room why the tank lights were on so early. Obviously I'm in the "don't change the timers" camp!

I adjust it to meet my schedule. Then again, as far as my fish at home are concerned "Dawn" is actually around 2PM and "dusk" is around 10PM. The ones at the office run 8-5. I'll also turn the lights off early in the living room tank if I'm watching a movie, or turn them on a bit early if I have guests around lunch time.

Yes i change my clocks, because unlike my fish I have school and things that need to be done at certain times. Its not like the ocean has daylight savings time?

I hope you are kidding and not spending 2 months adjusting the timers, and then two more months in the spring.

Don't touch it. It will be an hour or less, but eventually it will be right back to normal. (some time in the spring I believe) I'm in the same boat right now. Tons of timers...

Depends on your timer but my RKE takes seconds to change to the correct time.

If it doesn't effect your viewing time then it does not really matter.

I change mine..but it's purely for my own selfish reasons. I have it set so that it is lit when I'm home, and mostly blue in late evening when I'm sitting in the living room watching TV or the tank. I like the way the coral looks under that lighting

If the fish are from the southern hemisphere where there is no daylight savings time leave the timers.....(just kidding, it doesn't matter, set them to your preference).
