Powerhead Question

I am currently running 2 Koralia 1150gph pumps in my 46g bowfront. They are set up on opposites sides of the tank facing each other. I don't feel that I am getting enough flow on the bottom of the tank. If I point the powerheads down to the sand, they blow it all over the place.

I was thinking about adding 2 more powerheads to the setup, possibly Koralia 450's or 750's to create flow at the sand bed. What would you guys recommend?

If you can pick up an mp10 for a decent price it would get one. Pico Aquariums sells a shield that attaches to the wet side of the powerhead so that it may be placed low in your tank and wont stir up the sand.

I understand from your description that the pair of powerheads face each other.

In my 90 bow front, I have both on each side and angled up at water surface, witheach one slightly left/right (front to back of each other) so that they intersect enough to create eddies that reach down and thru the rock and sand at lower end of tank. Seems to create a very erratic flow that keeps sand clean and irregular in position.

if you haven't tried this, you might find it works for you.

Sincerely,

David

I have two of the same. I have one placed on the right near the bottom, angled slightly upward. The other one is on the left top angled downward.
With my rockwork in the middle of the tank, vs stacked along the back, this creates a nice swirling action in my tank. Definitely enough flow.
