Parasite on Clownfish
Hopefully someone can help me with whatever is sticking out of the side of my Clownfish Clyde.
It looks like some type of parasite or something. There have been no new additions to the tank, other than some corals in at least 6 months, if not longer. Everyone else is doing just fine. There is definitely swelling and a long strand hanging out the side of his body. About an hour after taking this video, the strand is gone, but there is still something sticking out, but just not as along. If you watch the video, it's on his right side, right below and in front of his pectoral fin directly behind his gill. You can see it flapping in the current. He is still eating, but is using that fin sparingly. The video is in HD (up to 1440 if you change the resolution) so hopefully everyone can see what's going on. Please help Clyde get better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGrFgWSUsIg |

Bump for Clyde the Clownfish, who still isn't feeling good.

Looks like a parasite to me, too. Guess Clyde needs a couple of rounds of prazi, so he can feel better!

Is that the recommended treatment for Parasites? Oddly enough, he was a little lethargic a few months ago and had stringy poop, so the tank recently went through two rounds.
I just don't understand how things like this appear a year after everyone went through QT and was established in the tank? |

Make sure there is plenty of water movement and aeration. Is he still in the DT or a QT?

I guess you have to treat the whole DT. Just make sure you keep plenty of aeration. I prefer to pull out the fish, since the sickest fish will get bullied. You can use prazi on a DT. Up the dose over two days and be aware feather worms might die.

It might be best to get him into a QT. Dosing prazipro in a large tank may not be as effective.

I'm on my second round of Prazipro, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. It still looks the same, he is still breathing rapidly and lethargic.
I just don't know what to do. I can't find out what he has so I don't even know if I'm administering the correct treatment. |

Was clyde captive bred or caught in the wild? It looks like a worm to me. Did you feed a food that had praz in it when he was in QT or dose any praz while he was in QT?
Is the parasite coming directly from his body or from a gill / fin? I apologize its a bit difficult to see. It may be anchor worm? Quote:
