Hi
Anyone had luck burning pests like paly , majano etc using a Chinese laser .....?

Similar to a 445nm blue and focusable and around 2.4 w or better?

Please share and how was it?
Where to buy a cheap Chinese laser?
Thanks much.

Try this site here: http://dx.com/

However you might run into problems if the Chinese Death Star Laser you buy isn't legal with the US Customs. Then again, you might be able to contact dx and ask them to "label it properly for best chances".

The products come direct from China and take a week or two.

You mean the majano wand? Not a laser though right?

I have a 445nm 2.7W laser I got thru http://laserpointerforums.com/

It works better than anything I have used ... Aiptasia X & majano wand. Note that isn't a very high mark on the wall. They work fine when you have full access to the target. The laser is a dry method meaning that you work outside the tank. I have seen some that are supposed to be water proof & find those intriguing but have not checked at all. To get to critters on the back side of rocks I also got a 2" dental mirror to bounce the beam off & that works ok also. Unfortunately the affordables ones are not stainless steel so there is a rusty corrosion that develops. Don't keep it in the water for very long.

This laser has a focus depth of about 3" or so. This is similar to a camera's depth of field. For a laser pointer, this is the kill range. I focus on front side targets and then refocus for the far side targets. Focus is actually pretty easy when the beam is shining thru the tank. The narrowest part is pretty easy to see as it bounces off floating particles.

My laser cost ~$300. I have spent more than that on Aiptasia X + Majano Wand. The batteries last 5 to 10 minutes. I have an extra pair so I can keep going for an extra few minutes when I am on game.

There are youtube videos of people shooting aiptasias & the like so search there for more information.
