Iv been looking for a while for this part but I cannot find it. Its the tube that extends the drain higher in the collection cup. here is a pic of what I'm talking about.

Coralvue has a forum here, best to ask there.
Curious though, what's the advantage of the tube? |

I could attach a skim mate locker or container to it and have it only be used when the skimmer is about to overflow in case of emergencies. This way I can collect in the collection cup, and the locker is a safe back up.
I don't get why people collect fish crap in a container rather than clean their skimmer head once a week. |

I get that but I'm not in the market for the head cleaner just the extension tube. I agree though the locker makes sense if used with the head cleaner.

In case Jeremy doesn't respond to your other thread in the CoralVue forum, I'm 100% positive that you could find tubing at one of your local home improvement stores that would fit, and probably for much less money. Just a suggestion.

Makes no sense to collect in two places.... Unless you plan on emptying less frequently.

some people are not understanding which is okay.
I'm not trying to collect in two places. I want to collect in the collection cup. BUT IF, and when my skimmer overflows it won't cascade out of the skimmer but enter the drain tube and into a container. it's a fail safe. my skimmer tends to overflow every time I change filter socks for 20 minutes or so. |

Coral vue told me that that part comes attached to the cup and only comes on recirc models. Which makes no sense to me but OK. I went to the store and picked up a small piece of vinyl tubing but now I'm thinking that it wouldn't keep up with an overflow. I need to fab something up that allows more water to enter the top but still fit in the small drain hole.

That piece is not meant to be a drain, it's an auto cut off, and is designed to connect to the air intake tube on the external/recirc models. In the event of the cup overfilling, water will flood the venturi and kill the bubbles, stopping the overflow. The skimmers that have these also have an optional separate drain nipple for the cup. Hope that made sense lol..

That being said, maybe the only other option would be to drill out the collection cup drain hole and use a bonding agent to attach a larger diameter tube to it?
