Fish selection for a 75 gallon reef w/ sump
I currently have a 50 gallon FOWLR + inverts. I am upgrading to a 75 gallon Reef with sump. I have 2 months to plan this as I am leaving my 55 gallon fallow and have +3 fish in QT.
Existing fish: 1 yellow goby 3 years old 2 percula clowns 6 years old New fish: Advice on my ONE tang who I add last: What is the difference in hardiness from a yellow tang or a purple tang? I see you recommend that both are unsuitable for a 4 foot tank.. BUT if you were going to choose one please share? ((My LFS as I planned my upgrade shared I could have both a Yellow tang and blue hippo tang in a 75 - I now realize that is not going to work)) Flame Angel Scotts fairy wrasse - I cover lid they are jumpers mandarin - just read how to build a feeding station for live brine shrimp also have pods in my tank Big Longnose butterfly fish OR Copperhead butterflyfish? blue spotted jawfish - he will go in first yes live sandbed please no tang police - I purchased a larger tank so I could have a tang.... Forget the purple tang, the 75 is just not big enough. It will be stressed and prone to disease and since they are aggressive to begin with in an appropriately sized tank, it will be a complete terror stuck in a 75. I have a difficult time advising to go with the Yellow Tang since it will have the same issues as the Purple Tang, but most likely not as severe. I would recommend a Kole's or Tomini Tang, as either is more suited to your tank. I would go with the Longnose Butterfly over the difficult to keep Copperhead.

I love tangs... Think of yourself as a caretaker and buy a little guy, give him all the care you can, and when it outgrows the tank, pass it on to another hobbyist with a bigger aquarium.
