Question Noob Question About Coral Placement

Hey there,

I have two different types of Duncan Polyp frags. One is long tentacle Duncans and the other are the normal shorter tentacle ones.

My noob question is.....

Can I put the two types of frags real close to each other in my tank without them bothering each other?

And if you don't mind..what kind of corals do I have to worry about bothering each other? I know my anemone can sting and kill the softies, same with my torch coral.

Do I have to worry about stuff like my green star polyps, xenia, and Duncans hurting each other?

From my experience, if it is the same species, they can touch each other without problem. So your two duncans are fine.

But with different species, its mostly trial and error or the obvious they cannot reside with each other.

Thanks I appreciate your input. I "thought" I would be okay since they are both Duncan Polyps but I just wanna be sure. I'm trying to keep my tank segregated as possible, but last thing I wanna do is lose $100 worth of Duncan Polyps over placement.

Ive kept different ones close together in the past. Try to put two heads in close proximity to one another, then you can just pull them apart if they start attacking each other.

duncans should be very tolerant of each other....provided they have at least some room for expansion and growth.

IME some of the most aggressive stingers are bubble corals, frogspawn and their kin & closed brain corals occasionally. I'm sure there are many more. Duncan's are often the victims if not given enough space.
