What is the most affordable water filter??

I am looking for a way to get all the filthy chemicals out of my fresh water that I put into my tank. I heard RO/DI does not get fluoride out, so I think that is not an option. Does anyone have a good suggestion??

RODI is the answer. Look to spectrapure for a refurb, BRS 5 stage is a great unit. The boys at The filter guys provide a quality product also. All are RC sponsers.

The DI portion of the Rodi will remove fluoride. Since it is an ion in water the RO portion isn't able to remove this, that is why almost all ro units are paired with a deionization filter.

There are many affordable RODI units on the market. Well worth the money for quality water.

Thanks guys! I always thought RODI did not take out fluoride. I pumped that it does! Makes shopping easier =) Just curious, but are there affordable filters other than RODI that take out fluoride? I am trying to consider my best option. thanks for the help!

the ongoing cost of an RO/DI is not very much except for the extra water. Even that is not very large depending on your needs, it's just a cost you factor in with everything else. In the long run RO/DI is very cost effective.

why are you so "focused" on fluoride? They just give the fish sparkling teeth

Maybe you meant "chloramines"

Does RO/DI remove chloramines? The pure water is for the fishtank and for me. I am just trying to make the healthiest drinking water =) I am focused on fluoride for my sake, I dont want a calcified Pineal gland, or my fishies to have one ( if fish even have a Pineal gland )

There's a certain type of carbon block you use in one of the pre-filters that removes chloramine. It's best to check with your city's water quality report to see if you need it. Check online as a lot of times you can find this info pretty easily.
