Mitras and Closed Canopy ?

1) I am looking into using Mitras for lighting. My build is in progress. Tank dim 7'long x 3' wide x 42" tall. I figure I'll need 3? I am planning a mixed reef LPS, SPS, softies, etc.

2) Tank is setup as a peninsula. I'm thinking of a somewhat closed canopy where wire is drawn in thru a vent on one end and exhausted out thru an exhaust fan above the canopy with air then discharged to outside. Would the Mitras work in this condition? I see that there is also the LED light bar but I am confused as to the differences between the two products besides IP67 cert. will I get the same color, control, programming, spectrum, and individual control of the 7 channels of light? What are the differences?

The official statement from GHL is the Mitras is not designed for close canopy installations, if a user feels the modifications they have done in terms of air flow generation are adequate then this does come down to the user, we cant judge effectiveness ourselves for obvious reasons.

Thank you for the response. What about the light bars? What would I require to equal a Mitra in relation to my tank? Differences in performance? etc as stated above. Also is there an online retailer in the US for Mitras?

The Mitras SIMU sticks are more for "supplementation" to a tanks main lighting. They provide accent lighting, moon lighting and of course my favorite LIGHTNING effects. They really are made to do cool and special things rather than be the tank's MAIN lights.

Your best bet would be to provide adequate ventilation and go with the GHL Mitras over your tank.

I was not referring to the simu sticks or at least I don't think I was. I was referring to this link
http://www.aquariumcomputer.com/Syst..._lightbar.html

The web site shows the simu as a different product. Specifically looking at the PL-1022

Ah you are correct. That lightbar is the new unit from GHL but I've not heard of any firm delivery dates on this units as of yet.

Hi

the light bars are not available for the NA market, GHL have marketed them for Europe only. I think a lot of this is risk of damage in shipping due to the lengths.
