High Nitrates in sandbed

Hey guys,

My tank 100g cracked and started leaking about two weeks ago and I put everything into about a 30g while I was getting a replacement tank. I'm sure the nitrates skyrocketed but everything but 1 fish made the transition. I do want to move the sand from the smaller tank back to my larger tank but am afraid the nitrates may cause a spike in the new aquarium. What are your thoughts? Maybe rinsing the sandbed is an option?

Thanks!

You could do that make some fresh saltwater and rinse small parts of the sandbed then repeat until you do the entire thing.
