BH-90 Loud?

I just installed a Reef Octopus BH-90 and it's pretty noisy. Theres a loud rushing water sound coming from inside the skimmer, in the pipe the inlet leads to (not the outlet). It sounds like a babbling brook. Right now I can hear it above my washing machine!

Any ideas oh how to lower the noise level? It was a used skimmer, but hadn't been used for a few months, could the noise just be part of the break-in period?

Is it primed properly? Is the water at the proper level? Are there plenty of bubbles?

Mine gets noisy when the pump needs to be cleaned out. If debris gets inside the pump it gets a lot louder.

I have the same skimmer and if it breaks siphon I just unplug and let it bubble then plug back in or put my finger on the air intake let the water raise... then adjust the pipe...but it is still kinda loud anyways...

I've had a BH2000 and it's always been loud. I had stuffed a bunch of pillows around it behind my old tank and it really helped. Now it's in the sump on the new tank.

I was going to get the bh2000 but ended up getting coralife 125 because I heard the loudness on the youtube videos from the reef octo. The coralife is still pretty loud, I stuffed a bunch of foam pillows behind it too. Probably only going to run mine when the lights are on, since it's in my room. People say they get quieter after about a week, check youtube to compare yours
