Fish not taking to new anemone
I recently got a carpet anemone and have had a bonded pair of black/white perculas for over a year. The female is nasty (only to me, not the other fish) so I am not very attached. How long do you typically give it to determine whether the clowns will take to the anemone?
I am patient but if they do not take to it I am thinking of trading them in for a pair that is already with an anemone. If a clown is swimming through and servicing one anemone are they apt to do so with another? Thanks

Only thing you can do it wait - I've had clowns never take to a nem - You can try to coax them by offering some brine shrimp directly in front of the nem but in the end...It's up to the clowns.

I've had clowns that never went near the anemone (even after months had gone by), and others that went in and hosted within a few hours.
As mentioned, all you can do is wait and hope. Getting a pair that is already hosting another nem does not guarantee that they will host in yours.

It took my pair of clowns a few months to make my Sebae Anemone their home. Have patience.

I've had success (too much) with a carpet and Clarkii species. I've never kept percs.

I have a pair of Ocellaris Clowns that started to host a bubble tip for a day or two and then stopped. They haven't been back to the nem since.

I have a breeding pair of percs. There are 2 RBTA's, 1 carpet and 1 condy. The percs hosted a leather coral. I removed the leather. They don't host anything right now and they haven't laid eggs in a couple months. They used to lay eggs every three weeks. It's a crap shoot.

Thanks for the input. Will give it some time and see what happens. If nothing, I may relocate them to another tank and try a pair that are already hosted in an anemone to hopefully incease my chances in my tank.
