Tampa Bay Saltwater is great for large orders. I have ordered 40 pounds from Richard and was extremely pleased. If I were doing a new tank, I would go with him.
If you want to place a small order, Gulf Live Rock has some great deals for 10 and 17 pounds of rock for under $100 shipped. There is more life on the TBS rock because it is shipped under water and everything survives. The Gulf Live Rock will be shipped in wet paper and I did have a brain coral, sponges, Halimeda, macro algae and a starlet coral arrive alive. |

Check on Craigslist. People sell it at a fraction of the price. Most people just want to get rid of it since they are probably moving so you could probably lowball and get a great deal. Make sure you inspect the LR for any hitchhikers or nasties.

If you go to the website and click on their "live rock by the pound" and then choose the Buna, you will see a vidio at the bottom where Bill is pulling out beautiful pieces of Buna. This is what I expected to show up at the airport when I went to get it. Nice "spiny" "Brantchy" live rock with color and "goodies"...just like advertised. I was suprised when I opened the box...it didn't look like the Buna. Anyway, I contacted them through e-mail a couple of times asking them to verify that it was actually the Buna (looked like high grade Fiji from the LFS instead), and Bill did call back and left a message. He basically said that they ship 2500 lbs of rock a day and that what I received was defiinitely the Buna, but they get differend "bunches" and not all are the same. He also said they have 100's of vidio's on the site so he didn't know which one I was referring too. So, I guess my point is this...I realize that not all piece of live rock "looks" the same...but I do fully expect to get a product that "looks" like the product I am ordering...especially when it is advertised that way and I am going to be charged $275 for it. In other words, if you want to take the chance of getting something that doesn't look like what you ordered...than go with LR&R. But my recomendation is to shop around first. Especially when we all "envision" what our aquascape is going to look like. I'm getting irritated again just thinking about it. Sorry.

I suggest getting the best live rock you can; in the long run, you will be happier. Saving money is nice, but you will live with this for quite a while.
