Stocking a 125g FOWLR
I am in the process of setting up my first ever saltwater tank and am looking for some advice on stocking it. I'm waiting for my stand to be built so I still have a couple months between now and when I plan on starting to stock the tank so it gives me plenty of time to plan . I will be setting up a 125g (72x18x25) FOWLR tank with dual overflows and live rocks and sand and a sump. Below is a list of all the species that I find interesting. I've been doing a ton of research over the past few weeks but have found tons of conflicting information (not surprising given how individual each fish's personality can be). So, I thought I would turn to the pro's here for any first hand advice.
*Before heads roll I know that all of these species will not get along (let alone fit!) in a 125g. It is just a list of the species that I am particularly interested in so I am looking for advice on what species will work well together in a 125g. -Tangs (hippo and yellow - can I keep these guys together?) -Angels (Emperor - I have found a TON of conflicting advice on this species regarding what size tank they need. If they really are too big (how fast do the grow) to go in a 125g are there any other angels you might recommend? What about the Majestic?) -Dwarf Angels (Flame, Bicolor, Coral Beauty - can these three species be kept together or is it one to a tank?) -Huma Trigger (this might be the MUST have fish that I build my tank around) -Lionfish (antennata or radiata - again, one of my favorites) -Foxface (Lo or one spot) -Eels (zebra moray or snowflake - how risky is it to keep one of these guys?) -Harlequin Tusk -Arc Eye Hawkfish -Maroon Clownfish pair -Shrimp (I'm guessing they are totally off limits given the above species but thought I would listen to any experience you all have had. If they are a super duper NO what do you recommend as a CUC?) -Puffer (is there any puffer species that might work in my tank?) -Anemones (I really like certain anemones. Are they incompatible with the above species?) Again, I know that all of these species will not co-exist or fit in my tank so I am looking for your opinions on who will get along best. Any advice you might have on how to best stock my tank given my preferences would be very very appreciated. Thanks guys! |
