Sponge? or something else..
I got this stuff on my live rock and was told it is sponge.. but when I searched sponge on this site everything was 3d not flat.. and same with the second pic although it has more dimension than the red stuff and it has a little "pore" that it looks as though it is drinking from. On the little rock next to the red stuff that has purple on it there is a soft almost like a polyp? what is it?

I am not sure since it is just a pic but wanted you to know sponges do not have to be flat, they do not even have to "give" when you push on them. I have one type that is encrusting, it is a bronze color, shiny, and feels kind of hard to the touch. Still a sponge though

not that I can see.. but it does have one place that is like a straw that comes out of it almost like a port to where it "drinks". it reminds me of a texture of baking soda and water.. like if you were trying to remove a bee sting..
make a paste and place it on the stinger to draw it out.. kwim? |

Yup sounds like a sponge, especially when you said it has a little 'straw'. Sponges have those, like little hollow tubes. For water to pass through so they can eat.
