Just wondering what everyone is using for a calcium reactor. Since I plan on purchasing one soo and I'd prefer to just get a really good one thanks.

Ok so those are the brands of choice. What in your opinions is the best? Regulator and selinoids as well. If you could put together your dream package what would it be. All the parts and pieces please.

I have used a GEO Calcium Reactor in the past.

Worked great. No complaints.

Good product IMO.

Not sure how long you have been in the hobby, but you will quickly learn that there is no best or dream solution. There are hundreds of permeation's. I suggest listing the components you wish to purchase and the community can comment on equipment that can be improved. Knowing the budget is helpful as well.

I know that but there are some componenrlts that are more reliable and have proved so through time asking other reefers is how we make informed descisions on things

Geo reactor.

Then go to aquariumplants.com and get their carbon doser regulator.

Lastly, get a Cole Parmer peristaltic pump from EBay.

Do NOT buy a CO2 tank IMO. Here in Orange County, the welding shops mostly only swap bottles - they are all filled at a bigger plant elsewhere. So I ended up swapping my brand new 10 lb. aluminum bottle from AP.com to the welding shop. At least they had the same bottle from same manufacturer, and one month newer. At a minimum, call the shops near you and see if they actually fill, or just exchange.

My LifeReef is shipping out this week.
I'll have a ton of pics and thoughts in my build thread once its in my possession.

I switched from a high end skimmer to a LifeReef skimmer and couldn't be happier. Hoping to have a similar experience with the calcium reactor, although this will be my first calcium reactor I've ever owned.

Pretty consistent with the reactors of the past, save for a union fitting here or there. I can honestly say the MRC dual effluent chamber reactors are the best I have used.

Not quite ..... Rolls Royce of calcium reactors IMO is the MTC Pro-Cal. Been running one for almost a decade with very good results. Only drawback is the lack of pH probe port, but that is remedied easily enough.

All of the brands noted are solid performers, but this one is my personal favorite.

For the newbies like myself and the OP, what makes the reactor above the "Rolls Royce" of reactors? Or what makes any reactor better than any other reactor?

I don't know about his calcium reactors (yet), but I can confirm that every single thing he says about his protein skimmers is dead on. Everything.

Ca1ore,

We frequent some the same threads, just giving you a hard time, nothing personal.

+1 On there MTC Pro Cal. I have on eon my current tank and on the previous two tanks.

No need for a Ph probe. You only need to test alkalinity. From that you can cut back or increase C02.
