bubble magus curve 5 pump issues

I just got a bubble magus curve 5 skimmer a couple of weeks ago and it works great except for one problem: the pump won't start while under water.

For example, if I turn the system or the skimmer off, it wont start when I plug the power back in. But, if I lift the skimmer out of the water, the pump starts and I then drop it back in.

Is there a way to fix this or does my pump just have a problem.

Thanks,

My Curve 7 Starts no problems.

I'd pull the motor apart, give it a good cleaning and try again.. otherwise call the manufacturer

Yep. Disassemble. Scrub (even if it's new) and carefully reassemble. Could have had a brain fart somewhere alone the assembly line and not put something together just right. Once I cross threaded my Venturi and didn't even notice it until like 2 months of underperformance. Had never done that before and had taken apart that skimmer several times over the years. Just messed up once.

I would definitely contact the vendor - I have three Curve 5's on seperate tanks that are turned off whenever I change a filter sock, and they never fail to restart...
