28g nano cube question
I've been wanting to get a hob-1 skimmer for my jbj 28g cf quad. I was at the lfs today and he pretty much told me that a skimmer is not needed and to just change water once a week. Anybody else agree or should I get a skimmer? Maybe is a skimmer overkill on this tank?

You can get away without a skimmer but if you do I'd suggest a 20% weekly water change.

I don't believe a skimmer is an overkill for a tank since the majority of folks use them. Can you do away with out one? Yes. The plus side of having a skimmer is they do best removing fish waste/uneaten food and keeping your tank cleaner. Nothing else comes close.

i have a hob skimmer for my 26. i like it. it takes out extra waste. if it weren't skimming anything then i wouldn't run it. but there is always gunk.
i would rather be actively removing gunk then letting it sit till i do a water change

Well thank you for the replies! Im really considering the aquamaxx hob-1. Love the look of it and I'm guessing it will go to my next tank when I upgrade.
