coralife 65 super skimmer

Just purchased a coralife 65 super skimmer and I seem to be having some issues with setting it up. First off my collection cup has a hole in it, does that seem correct? The other issue I am having is it seems odd to have the power head submerged in the water but is this also correct? If anyone can offer me advise in if this right what I have said that would be great.

Thanks

Just wondering....how much did you spend on that skimmer (if you don't mind). Just to let you know the pump should be fully submerged and then some. Also you should know that the skimmer you have is notoriously finicky. Do a search on these forums for coralife super skimmer. You probably won't like what you find...that's just a guess though.
