Refugium light?
Anyone have some thoughts on using one of these for a refugium light? I'm not sure if this would work well or not.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/JoyHydroGrow...item19e89d6b20 Or even something similar. I'm finding lots of Hydroponics LED lights that aren't too badly priced on e-bay, so I figured I'd toss this out and catch opinions. |

it will work but has other radiums like blue lights etc all you need is 6500k bulb from home depot or lowes cost under $5. but this fixture does have that too so your call.

For your price tag I would use Tunze Led Marine, because it could be even placed under the water in refugium if it's big enough. This save you some space in cabnet, well at least it saved mine and cheato is growing like mad! My refugium is 2'x1'x2'.

I figured I would ask, I've seen other fuge lights that are just the red 660nm and Blue 450nm LEDs. Minimizing cost is what my goal is here, there are similar set ups under $40 on ebay. Luckily I can also take it to work and have the techs give the inside board a good coating of conformal coating to help minimize corrosion.

Well I'm also looking at efficiency and best grow rates as well. I don't want to have to change out a bulb every 6 months to a year.
Anyone have experience using the reds and blues vs a white? |

I'd be afraid to order it.....
After all, the NSA, FBI, etc. are NOT spying on it's citizens.....according to them. (Don't turn it into a political thread... just saying I'd really be afraid to order it) |

Well I can say the blue/red LED light did not work out. Flame algae fell apart after a few weeks, and chaeto doesn't grow at all under it.
