The new 30L fusion, thinking to purchase the the tank without the stand.
Will the system work without the stand? Was about to order the Nuvo 24, but it looks like a better investment. Will it priced similar to the nuvo24. |

NEW! Innovative Marine NUVO Fusion Aquariums
The Innovative Marine 30L is now available for $499.99 and will work just fine without the stand. The filtration and all necessary components are built right into the back of the tank; just be sure you have a suitable piece of furniture or alternate stand that will support the weight of the tank.
The 30L does have some great features over the Nuvo24 including thicker glass, polished diamond edges, and black silicone which are typically found on only the most high-end of aquariums. It is definitely worth the extra dough in my opinion. -Robert F. |

As for other items you need, this really depends on what you plan to keep in the tank. Check out our Reef Tank Packages for some great ideas on some of our favorite products for a reef tank. |

The razor is out of my budget, how about the kessil? Would I need two on this size of tank or one be sufficient?

In order to get full coverage for a reef aquarium, you would need to have x2 of the Kessil A150W lights suspended above the aquarium.

We typically recommend about 1.5 lbs per gallon of live rock. Feel free to follow up anytime. |

For a 2" sand bed, you need roughly 35 - 45 lbs of sand. 45 lbs would be more accurate for fine grade sands. Here is a great article all about substrates.
35-45 lbs of live rock would be appropriate. |

Fusion 40
muttley101 started a Fusion 40 build thread so you can get a closer look at the tank there if you want.

Do you by chance have the inner dimensions of each shelf of the stand?

The instruction manual (starting on page 22) does have a lot of detailed diagrams showing how the stand is laid out. Hope this helps! |

Thanks for the rough measurements, I'm trying to figure out what all would fit to hide in the stand
