Hammer head coral not opening/shrinking
I brought a hammer head coral from the local pet store, when he pulled it from the tank he shook it and bumped it a little and its skeleton has chips, i placed it in my tank it opened a little but it has started to shrivel and had alot of mucus n brown/black mucus aswell not to sure whats going on? Would I need to dip it? I have been adding trace elements and amino acid/ vitamin supplement to try help it recover

How long has your tank been setup? Yes always dip corals. I'm assuming your lights will grow coral and you have a skimmer? (Although skimmer isn't always necessary) hammers typically like lower flow and medium to lower light. The trace elements you speak of are a waste of time and money, since your salt mix will provide the necessary trace elements. Amino acids and vitamins really only help fish when it is soaked in food and the right food at that. You said the skeleton has chips, where are the chips located? Near the base or near the fleshy part of the coral?

It's been set up for about 4-5 months I left It to cycle completely n gave it am extra 4 weeks before adding anything, It's a 400l tank with 120l sump, I'm running t5 and switch between led, I had dip the coral and some life has come a few tentacles have extended out, the chips on the skeleton arent around the fleshy part more towards to tip of the skeleton, my parameters are spot on althought my nitrate is .5ppm also I have two 7500 lph wave makers (only one running cause two was pumping the coral to much)

Have you lfs test your water as well. I thought my parameters were perfect as well but when my lfs tested the water, my alk was at 6, calcium 460, mag 1000. what kind of leds? I have to turn my leds down to 45% when acclimating new corals or they get burnt.
