RO/DI storage barrel

I found some new 55g barrels on Craigslist and am going to use them to make a saltwater mixing station. I plan to heat it, but do I need to aerate the ro/di water barrel?

No, rodi does not have to be aerated. Just make sure the barrels are food grade.

Your RO/DI barrel should be sealed from both light and air to prevent algae growth.

Also, be sure to rinse them out before you use them with RO/DI water first.

You never know what could be still in there from the last person.

Oh. One more question. The 55g blue drum has 2 small access holes on top which are not very big. Is it ok if I just pour some vinegar and water in and swish it around or do I need to cut a bigger opening and srcub the barrel?

You should really cut a hole big enough to reach the bottom so you can wipe the entire interior surface clean.
