how many types of coral are there?
Hi my name is Kayla. I am in 3rd grade. I was wondering if there are lots of types of coral, because they are lots of fun to take care of and I would like to know more about them. Thank you for your support!

"coral" encompasses a HUGE class of animals called Anthozoa.
inside this class are many other families, orders, and subclasses. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coral including the calcerous, reef building, coral family Scleractinia. which contains many of the animals people would commonly think of when you say the word "coral".
