Tank Upgrade.
I am in the process of upgrading my tank. Last month i was on vacation and i had a lot of die off and the phosphates shot to the roof....i am trying to bring that down atm....my question is that when i upgrade from my 29 to 60 gallon tank can i use the live rock from my current tank? it has some algae on it and will it also spread in my new tank?
Cheers! |

Unless it is a real nuisance algae like bryopsis, bubble algae or the like, a little algae won't hurt anything. Yes, you can use the rock from your old tank as an excellent "seed rock" for your bigger tank.

its mostly hair algae.....and i am thinking it should starve to death as the new tank will not have any excess nutrients.
