Overflow plumbing ?
Is it better to hard plumb overflow and return lines or flex tubes?

I hard plumbed my system. And my father in laws two systems. My brothers and stepdads both got clear vynl Tubing. I would never run another system that way

I don't think there are any really. I just like having a clean looking setup. On my brothers tank it just didn't look good to me. Having clear tubes kind of floping around above the sump just didn't do anything for me.

It's a heck of a lot easier to plumb with flexible lines than hard plumb. And depending on who you ask, hard plumbing a system can reduce your flow rate due to friction in the elbows. I used flex line on my system and as long as you plan ahead, you can reduce the cluttered look pretty easily. It's really just a matter of preference in the end.
