Coral ID please
I hope this is the right place to post this. Sorry brand new to the whole coral thing and need some ID's please. Pretty sure the first of these is a type of polyp and the second is some type of xenia but I have no idea what type and I'd like to do a little research on them. The xenia was given to me because it was dead and I took a chance...a month ago, and the third picture was also dead, and I believed this up until last night when I noticed the first couple heads, and I have no idea what it is, the last one wasn't dead but it's grown about 4x it's size in less than a month and starting to sprout more heads out of the sides. The light looks a little bluer in the pics than it does in person right now. Thanks in advance for any help, and if I posted in the wrong place please move the thread and I'll know next time.

1. Palythoa sp. (most likely one of the Gulf or Atlantic species)
2. Looks like a star polyp 3. Definitely a star polp 4. Duncan Watch out for the Palythoa, I'm just getting over a bout with palytoxin in the eye. Not fun

Thanks, never even heard of palytoxin before now, from what i've read so far..guessing I should be a little careful when handling, lol. Nice to know seeing how I'll be moving the tank and restructuring in a few weeks. Would have been nice to know when I was dipping and acclimating this thing last month. Guess this means a few more trips up and down the ladder seeing how my newly preg wife won't be helping me move the rocks

No disrespect to those who've had palytoxin but I seriously cannot understand how someone can put their hands in their tank water and not wash them afterwards ![]() |

In my case, I was in the process of fragging some Capt. Americas. I did wash my hands afterwards. But, at some point in the fragging process, I must have rubbed my eye. Didn't really hit me until about 3 am.

Just looked up the capt. americas, gorgeous. I wish I had some more places to buy corals around here. I love my lfs and they have some great stuff and extremely helpful, but only a couple frag tanks. I'd like to go to a specialty reef shop sooner or later, might have to take a road trip soon.
