nobody will be able to give you a percentage of the chances you get male and female with your order. some may suggest just getting a trio or more to increase your chances of getting both sexes. also someone might be able to tell you if they can change sex to become a pair, this im not sure about, but others might be more knowledgeable.

Watch Divers Den on Live Aquaria. They frequently offer bonded pairs of Bangai. This is the only way to be sure.
Mathematically you have 50/50 chance at getting a male and a female. But you also have a 50/50 chance of getting two of the same sex and one of them could end up dead or beat up.

I don't think they change sex. And actually your chance of getting a male and female when you buy 2 cardinals from LA is only going to be 33%. (Two males, Two females or one of each=33%.) They do have them come up in bonded pairs on Divers Den for $79 if you want to do it the easy way. You'll have to be faster then me, though, because I have my eyes set on the next pair that pops up.
The next best option is to buy a group of them, maybe 5. Wait for a pair to form and then PLEASE be diligent in rescuing the other three that will most likely be killed by the bonded pair. You can sell these or return to the store for credit. There are physical characteristics that are visible when they are adults, but I don't think they can be sexed as juvi's. I could be wrong on this, though.

They are pretty common at any LFS that carries saltwater fish. Use this method to determine sex http://www.advancedaquarist.com/blog...i-cardinalfish

Edsbeaker, your math is off.
It's a 50/50 shot. Male/Male Male/Female Female/Male Female/Female |
