Question Bean animal drain size in external overflow for 180g tank

What minimal drain size should I use for bean animal overflow?

I will use an external overflow on the back of the tank.

72"*24"*24" tank (180g) on a 3' stand. 75g sump below the tank inside the cabinet.
Enhein 5000 compact pump (1320 GPH) inside the sump. With head loss I belive it is 925 GPH.
I would like to run about 5x180g water flow for filtration. For circulation I will use 2xTunze 6085 pumps (2100 GPH). Planning to keep softs and LPS.

I have limited space between the wall and the back of the tank where the overflow chamber is. I would like to use 3 x 1" bulkheads inside the chamber.

Does make any difference to have 1.5 pipe connection just below the chamber?

What is the recommendation to minimize the chamber space?

Your water flow will only flow as fast as the smallest part of your system will allow. So no, I don't believe it will. Look at a Herbie drain..I believe it will take up less room. That's what I'm planning on doing to my 180 I'm setting up now.

Agree. I have a 300g with 2 external overflows. I'm doing "Herbie" with 1" drain and 1.5" emergency per overflow. I am pushing 2000GPH easy. With only one overflow I would recommend 2 1" emergency drains if go can not go bigger than 1" for the emergency drain. Go Gate Valve too, a lot easier to adjust.

If I use 5 x 1" full siphon? Will it work? Two full siphon, two emergency and one for low drain?

Herbie is not set and forget.. I prefer bean animal

My pump will push 1320 GPH. If the full siphon drain supports 1500 GPH... Why it should not work?

Sorry in this article http://flexpvc.com/WaterFlowBasedOnPipeSize.shtml
I see 1" drain will support 960 GPH. My pump supports 925 GPH with head loss. So I can adjust the 1" full siphon. Is this correct?
