Algae and sand help

Hello everybody i have a a few questions. First off i have a 90 gallon mixed reef tank with SPS, blue hippo, clown fish, purple tang, powder blue, and a few chromis. I have a wet/dry, uv sterilizer, protein skimmer. I have blue hermits and turbo snails as part of my clean up crew. I have a bad algae problem on my sand.

I have added a golden head goby but all he does is stay in a cave. I have also added 4 Nassaruis snails to the sand bed as well as a two little fish GFO phosban reactor. I did a water change as well. What else can I do to combat this more aggressively? Thanks for everyones help.

I forgot to mention I have 2 hydras and these are the settings. Anyone think i should tone it down or are they fine. I only turned on the white in the picture so the algae can be seen clearly.

I know the recommendation for algae issues shouldnt be adding livestock. However, i have a diamond goby and queen conch that keep my sand pretty clean, even when i have other algae issues going on.

I think the concensus recommendation would be to figure out the algae source though... Are you using ro/di water? Are you overfeeding? Lights or rodi filter need changing? Do your powerheads leave debris collecting there?

I know it cannot be my lights bc i just got them. I clean out my powerheads bi weekly. I just added the phosban reactor. Im not currently running a rodi filter. Might be overfeeding. Ill try turning that down a notch. Thanks

You could change direction of power heads, that helped my algae problem

You could get stronger power heads

Yeah, if theres a spot where detritus collects it could cause a problem.

are these the number of LEDs or the percentages you have them at......red yellow orange will promote algae growth.

usually, nutrients overload (or inadequate export\ too much import) and flow are the factors contributing most to algal persistance. Check those first. If you just changed your lights, how old were your old lights, if they were getting old, the spectral output may have shifted, also contributing to algal outbreak.

good luck

if you use tap water....that is the first thing you should change. then see what happens and go from there. rodi is a must unless you just wanna battle

new lights can be the issue. or overfeeding

now there is all this extra light that the algae can use to grow and populate. and if you overfeed, then you are giving the algae more ability to overgrow

I get my fresh water form the local LFS I do not use my own tap water. And those numbers are the percentages of the lights. The algae problem started way before the new lights.
