Who remembers this one?

Wow,

I wish the prices didn't change. This place was the absolute best to buy from. Many of my pay checks went to them.

Collector's corner and Weekly Specials all started here. I couldn't wait for the update and the prices were always unreal. A 9" crosshatch for $160!

Nice! In New Orleans back in the 1980s-early 90s, a LFS called Aquarium Imports used to put their weekly specials in the TV section of the Sunday newspaper. They always had Yellow Tangs on sale for $9.99, plus 4/$10 damsels and condylactis anemones! To cycle your tank with!

Thanks for the memories! That's pretty cool.

For those who don't know, FFE joined forces with Live Aquaria, and the rest is history. Funny thing... this is still a live link:

So is this: http://www.petwarehouse.com

I gave them lots of money back when they were local. Now they're part of Drs. Foster and Smith too but the old address still works.

Funny, blast from the past. in the days before the Internet, FFE would fax their stock list to you upon request.

Their "main man" left to work in Fiji (but subsequently returned to the States), then the business was sold to someone who had no clue and ran it into bankruptcy rather quickly.

They may have been for first for WYSIWYG for corals. It was a crazy site too.

I do remember Flying Fish Express.
I loved getting stuff from them.
I remember you could call them up and talk with the actual person who would be putting your order together.

Yes, I ordered from them frequently. RM seemed to be able to cherry pick rather well from one or more distributors. They also fragged and grew out some excellent SPS corals. And of course their site was interesting because of the pun associated with their name.

I'm pretty sure Reefer Madness used to make up crazy names for their corals in a humorous way. I bet they never thought it would catch on ! LOL

Look at the join dates for the ones posted here. Pretty funny. I guess I am old and unable to leave this hobby.

Flying Fish was great. Years ago, I had a real tear drop clam (multicolored) like you never see anymore, that I believe came from them.

And Clams Direct. Barry knew his stuff.

And Marine Center in Dallas. They did not have a sexy website, but they could get some really nice and rare fish back in the day. They were quality people.

In 97 I was a junior in highschool, had a 55gal with a mating pair of red devil cichlids in my bedroom, and a 88 mustang gt in dad's driveway... life was good.

I remember buying from flying fish! I think it was 96 or 97. A couple Bangai cardinal fish. Actually had them delivered to my work , course I had to show them off. They did well pretty well considering I was using tap water and bleached rock.

Ha ha, great thread. I have been inactive, but not tankless, for years now. Seems like quite a bit has changed, yet I still recognize some of the familiar names around here. Great blast from the past. Speaking of other vendors from my day, is Deltec USA still around?
