Searching for berghia nudibranches in my tank
So I bought 3 berghia nudibranches prob round 1/4 of an inch in size placed them on my LR and they hid inside a hole in my LR since thurs havnt seen them around now am spotting an aiptasia anemone poking out the whole they hid in. Could just be me being iffy or nervous but went red light hunting 2night to see if I see them saw my tiny pepp shrimp ripping a chunk outta aiptasia lots of amphipods, a weird tubelike thing sticking outta the rock eating from surface of rock but no berghia I've read that amphipods eat berghia eggs and eaven tiny berghia + pepp shrimp will eat also any ideas to know if their still in my tank

Really no way to tell at this point. the eggs take about 10 to 14 days to hatch so even if the ones you did pur in layed eggs already they wouldn't hatch as of yet. What type of fish do you have in your tank? Any nocturnal fish?

You will very rarely see them. No one buys berghia to enjoy their look. They mostly feed at night and during the day you maaaaybe will see one every week. Best time to spot them is at night with a flashlight or right after lights on. If you see them during the day very often it means they are starving and desperate to find aiptasia.
Since you have peppermint shrimp eating aiptasia and you have confirmed that, it is likely the berghia will run out of food. Sorry man, they only eat aiptasia and they need to eat very often. They starve in about 4 days with no aiptasia. |

Fish I only have 2 clowns and the pepp shrimp is tiny the reason I got the berghia is because he won't fully eat the aiptasia I've seen him pull of some tentacles and in less than a week it's back out of the rock in restored shape + even with the pepp shrimp my aiptasia #'s have been growing slowly but growing. Past month they've multiplied from 4 to over 15 and a couple big ones

I put 6 Berghias in my cube in November. Rarely see one but over time they have multiplied and devastated a flourishing population of Aptasia. Down to a handful of Aptasia remaining. Like everything else in this obsession, good things generally are a result of patience.

I've seen mine once or twice in the four weeks or so since adding them. I do see new aiptasia appear and then disappear, so I assume they are working their magic.

I have no idea if mine were able to propagate. Probably no way of knowing for quite a while (whether aiptasia takes a foothold again). As is, they take care of new ones in 2-3 days. |
