new tank build(mp40 or mp 10
ok guys i have a friend who is starting a to build his 100g tank.. when he came to water circulation i was successful in poisoning him regarding the eco tech marine mp pumps lol right?? he was hooked once he saw the capabilities and the drivers etc… now it when in came to the cost .. yeah so instead of going with an mp 40 which is a little costly .. how about 2 mp 10s? is that good enough .. well i can't say much since i have 2 mp40s but for him what do you guys think? remember this is a 4 ft tank

Start there yes, but ideally two linked on opposite sides creates the perfect ecosystem IMO.

I have two MP10's on my 75 and they work well, but I would think a MP40 would better to start.

Do the mp10's stick well enough on larger tanks' glass? I know they have thicker glass in larger tanks.

I have 3 mp10 on my 90 gallon. One on the back wall and one on either end of the aquarium. The reason i went this route is I had two mp10 on a smaller tank. I like the random flow of having the 3rd mp10 on the back wall. Absolutely NO deadspots in my 90 gallon like this. In anti-sync mode this set up is awesome.

oh well i guess its the mp 40 for this build.. was looking at the jebao and cheap wave makers but i didn't want him having something the size of a house in his tank lol.. nothing beats the vortech imo.

I had a pair of 10's on a 125(3/8") worked fine would try thicker glass. I would say 40's or a pair of tunze 6095's if you don't mind cords.

To clarify, my 105 is rimless, so a bit thicker than usual at about 5/8" thickness. The dry side will never fall if you installed them correctly, thick glass or not. The wet side on my 10 will spin if I crank it all the way up due to the magnets not being strong enough for my glass thickness. I am currently using the 10 to eliminate a dead area, so I really only run that at 50%, and did not sync to the the three 40s.
