new tank flooded
This was not the way to start things off for sure, setting up a 75 gal drilled tank that I purchased from one of our finest. It was dry when I picked it up but this guy is a sailor. Ensign no less. So its got to be ship shape and I trusted him as far as the stability of the tank went.
Bringing it home. view.truck from side.jpg Got it in place and wiped it down and with my knees banging started filling er up. I put a pump inside the tank just incase I had to abort the fillup for some unknown reason. Tank under construction _DSC0232.jpg It was looking good until the fill up it got just over the overflow. Man,I was hearing this god awful waterfall sound buried by a loud gargling noise. Next, the water began to pouring out from under the top rim of the tank flooding the floor. With super human speed, I turned the pump on that I had placed inside the tank and got the level down some. Grabbed all the towels and started mopping. Thankfully, the floor is tiled. So the next step is to find the leak and seal it. And they lived happily ever after |

So, just to clarify, it began leaking where the brace meets the glass? Also, I studied the pictures a little closer and is the tank upside down in the truck, making the overflow just barely recognizable on the left hand side in the second picture? I only mention it because I was looking hard for the overflow in the center haha.
How much did you fill the tank? Because I see in the second picture that the sump is not installed. Would the tank have overflowed if the sump was installed and you allowed water to flow accordingly, thus prevent water from reaching a level in the display to actually leak out? I say this because my 10 gallon is like that. If I fill it to the brim, it will begin to leak where that brace meets the glass.

Lesson learned! Always test the tank outside first! Once my stuff was plumbed it ran in the garage for 3 weeks! Hope no other issues arise!

I have that issue to with my 10 gallon, I usually keep the water level within an inch of the top of the tank.

It sounds like it is possible that if the sump was installed and the overflow was hooked up properly then it wouldnt get to the top rim anyway and start pouring out. Was the tank level?
