re plumbing a 65 quick ?
I have a friend who wants me to start getting his tanks up to par both are 65 gallon rr tanks. My first day there I tore apart the sumps and simplified them for easy maintenence. He used to throw plugs small pieces of rock and macro all on top of all that stuff which was just collecting a ton of derititus. Soaked the skimmers in vinegar aling with heaters. While doing this I noticed they used the clear vinyl tubing with metal hose clamps. There are hose clamps under water rusting away I guess for 2 years. Tanks are 2 65 gallon reef ready. The return side bulkhead are 3/4 with I believe is a mag 7 for the pump. The loc line is 1/2 inch. My job is im going to hard pipe both tank. The mag 7 has a 1/2" outlet. Should I run 3/4 to the bulkhead or 1" and then reduce into the bulkhead. The drain side is 1" so thats easy ill run 1" on that for sure. Im pretty sure its usually standard to double the pumps outlet but im going into a 3/4 bulkhead. So 3/4 or 1 inch

I just did the headloss calculator and it was 325 gph with 3/4 and 355 with 1". Not a huge difference on ny mag 9.5 it was 100 gph difference from 1 inch to 1.5 which the recomend from danner is to use 1.5 but that just seemed crazy big pipe on the back of a 75
