Where do most of you buy your fish?

Do you buy from LFS or online? If online where is the best place to go?

About 50/50 for me. I have a couple of good lfs nearby, but have had good experiences with NY Aquatic and LiveAquaria.com.

LFS, I like seeing the conditions and housekeeping. It will give me an clue on the care of the livestock.

I used to get mine from Reefs2Go but they haven't had fish in stock for a while and their prices went up a few months ago so they're on the level with LiveAquaria now. Reefs2Go has been less than stellar messing up my orders and getting DOA fish. LiveAquaria has been much better. My LFS isn't all that great and overpriced so I order most of my livestock.

If I had to break it down: probably 50% from Liveaquaria, 25% from Bluezoo, 25% from various LFS.

My success rate when ordering online, especially Liveaquaria, has been amazing. Almost no losses. But when I buy from LFS, it's 50-50.

LFS.

I would much rather cherry-pick the livestock at various locations, than get stuck with what they send you in the mail. A Coral Beauty might be a Coral Beauty, but the colors on some of these fish can be quite exquisite. That's what I want.

There is an LFS every 5 mins from me. But I usually buy from 1 or 2 places. The petco actually has a decent clownfish inventory and they have a return policy so I bought my maroon clown from them. Little guy is going 3 years strong.

CUC I buy from Reefcleaners.org. Any LFS or Petco charges a STUPID amount for hermits and snails. I stand by John @ Reefcleaners.org any day. He is a great guy and has never disappointed.

Lfs. I worry about the shipping for the fish. I would hate getting something DOA or thinking about them suffering because of shipping delays. Besides I like to see what I am getting and am too impatient to wait for the shipping time.

I got 5 from saltwaterfish.com overnight. I didn't feel bad about the shipping because I got 5...even though the tank police would bust me for adding 5 at once...they all arrived alive and are doing great in my tank. Because of the price I got the shipping down to $4.99 for overnight (really just the packing fee.) The rest I got from the LFS.

live aquaria until they switched to UPS, now I won't even consider them. I've heard a lot of good about thatfishplace.com and vividaquariums.com

LFS or other reefers.. specifically for fish. Have ordered coral online a few times and it came in okay condition.

I always try to support the LFS when I can. They're there when you really need them.. Now hahah

I've bought a derasa clam, some fruit loop zoanthids and an acro frag from ebay. All are alive and well but none look as photographed, especially the zoas from a Frag Junky. Total photoshop. From now on I deal with the locals so there's no surprises and no shipping costs.

LFS. I take a look at the entire stock and won't buy if there are any signs of disease or parasite.

I order or buy from my LFS. I have several close to chose from. I dont have to worry about DOA problems or shipping costs or if Ill be home to receive it. And they are usually pretty good on price.

I just walked into mine last night and ordered a MacNeils Assessor which run for $100 online. Im getting it from my LFS for $65. Id say good deal.
